Personality

What is your character most afraid of? How are they defined by this fear? (100-300 words)

India is a deeply parentified child. She is both recklessly driven to show that she can handle things and very frightened of what a situation she can't handle looks like. The worst insult of all: that she might be like her mother. A woman considered to be a slut and floozy by her grandmother, a bitch by her father. Her fear, quite simply, is not being enough and not truly being worthy of support and care. She's always trying to prove that she doesn't need it. But she is an actual child and does need it. Canonically, she has no idea what the care really looks like and spends pretty much all of the book managing and taking care of the adults and the problems they won't deal with.

What is your character's greatest desire? How are they defined by this desire? (100-300 words)

Related to the above, her greatest desire is to be loved and cared for. With the reality of the supernatural in the world, she is now very deeply separated from the everyday person... The gulf between herself and others that was already forged by her parentification is made all the wider by her 'sight'. She doesn't know how she is ever going to find someone who can truly make her feel safe, when she knows what lurks around all of them.

Both of her parents were unsafe attachments and she just wants love.

How will not having memories change your character? What core personality traits, if any, will change? How? (200-300 words)

If India doesn't remember the way she was raised by Luker [her father]... She has much room to actually act like a child. But a child with a nervous system that knows a lot about stress. She will remain weirdly cool under pressure, but will be much more inclined to voice herself without trying so hard to seem cool and adult. I assume there will be things that she can see with her psychic power, and not remembering how she got this clarity.... Will be more openly frightened. We do know what that looks like, since the book covers her first really experiencing these powers. While we might be frightened, she also very annoying wants to look.

More positively, I look forward to India being able to express herself creatively without paticularly requiring the approval of someone like Luker. She can do some things just for the joy of it. Maybe some sand art or something wholesome is called for, ok.

Memories

You have 10 memory points. How will you use them?
Skill: 1 point.
Sketching, art.

Skill: 1 point.
Photography.

Skill: 1 point.
Embroidery.

Major Memory: 2 points.
Marian Savage's strange funeral -- A dead lady in a coffin and her children nervously stabbing her with a knife, to make sure she's dead.

Minor Memory: 1 point.
The houses at Beldame - Just what they look like, nothing else.

Relationship Core: 2 point.
That Woman, her mother, who ran off and in subsequent interactions does not care about her. Is generally hated and not to be aspired to. India didn't have much time with her mother anyway, so there's not much more to this relationship than its antagonism and discomfort with how it reflects on her.

Points remaining: 2
